This watercolor portrait of Miss Lewis was painted for the 25th anniversary celebration of the Elma Lewis School of Fine Arts in 1975. In her smiling face, Johnson captured the spirit of vitality and energy that filled Miss Lewis on that occasion, as hundreds of her students and well-wishers filled the school at 122 Elm Hill Avenue.
