ABAFAZI
Founded in 1991 by Dr. Michael Williams, Abafazi: A Simmons College Review of Women of African Descent, is an unparalleled journal of exploration of the rich and varied cultural and social lives of women of African descent. In its 14 years of publication by Simmons College, Abafazi, which means women, has published scores of outstanding scholarly essays, interviews, and probing studies of the literature and art of black women. In doing that, Abafazi has tapped the depth and diversity of the voices of those women, thus contributing immensely to our understanding of their creative powers and of their heroic labors to achieve a humane and just society for all.
